The international community struggles to sustain the necessary political focus and attention required to respond to multiple crises at different stages at the same time. It also falls short in sustaining hard-won peace over the longer term. Governments and the international community must invest in dedicated and sustained capacity to handle more than one crisis at a time. This must go alongside predictable and long-term political engagement and financial investment in promoting peaceful and inclusive societies, strengthening legitimate institutions and reactivating markets and economies.
