  • What led your organization to make the commitment?

    Joint Learning Initiative on Faith and Local Communities (JLI) from its inception has been committed to providing evidence on religious and faith-based groups' contributions to humanitarian response.

  • Achievements at a glance

    - JLI disseminated the 5 policy briefs for advocacy found at jliflc.com/whs
    - JLI launched a new Learning Hub on Religion Faith, Refugees and Forced Migration, in July 2016. The Hub Co-Chairs are Elena Fiddian-Qasmiyeh, Associate Professor, University College London, and Sadia Kidwai at Islamic Relief Worldwide. The Refugees and Forced Migration Hub brings together expert stakeholders including, practitioners, policy makers and academics in areas related to local faith communities, migration and refugees.
    - JLI organized a Religion Faith, Refugees and Forced Migration meeting through the JLI Refugees and Forced Migration Hub on September 19, 2016 in NY to complement the UN Summit on Refugees and Migrants at the UN General Assembly.
    - JLI is committed to gathering best practice of methods and mechanisms relating to engagement of local faith actors. JLI is cohosting a working meeting on Localizing Response to Humanitarian Need: The Role of Religious and Faith-Based Organizations in October 16-19 2017.

    The JLI tracks monthly progress on goals and reports annually through the annual report.

  • Next step to advance implementation in 2017

    ○ The JLI will continue to disseminate resources to partners through email.
    ○ JLI is cohosting a working meeting on Localizing Response to Humanitarian Need: The Role of Religious and Faith-Based Organizations in October 16-19 2017.
    ○ JLI will continue to use it's learning hubs (Peace & Conflict, Refugees and Forced Migration, Sexual and Gender-based Violence, and Mobilisation of Local Faith Communities) as a way to gather practitioners, policymakers and academics to gather evidence on faith and humanitarian response.
